Community Mental Health Education Program seeks to raise community awareness about mental health issues that community members as well as military service members and their families face. We also want to help make clear the different services available for military mental health issues on Fort Drum and in the Fort Drum Region in order to strengthen the referral process for these families.

Visit the Community Calendar that is updated every month. Find local support groups, trainings and events that are open to the public.

Visit the Professional Training Calendar to find where required trainings such as Diversity, HIPPA, and Sexual Harrassment are being offered locally. This calendar also displays upcoming events and trainings for professionals.

CRISIS SERVICES

  • Call the Transitional Living Services of Northern New York’s Mobile Crisis Center at 315-782-2327 for immediate crisis intervention and stabilization services. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Get information about area resources, mental health education, and referrals.

  • In the military? Call Military One Source at 1-800-342-9647 anytime. Talk to a counselor for free about emotional support or other problems. Counseling is also available online.

  • Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255). A 24 hour, toll-free suicide prevention service available to anyone in suicidal crisis.

  • The Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown has a 24 hour line for anyone with urgent mental health concerns. Call them at 315-785-4516.

The Community Mental Health Education Program is funded by the Fort Drum Regional Health Planning Organization and the Jefferson County Department of Community Services.  The program is an initiative of the Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County.
