Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County has a variety of educational programs that could help you gain life-long skills for dealing with stress, parenting issues, eating well, and recreational activities for the family.  Click on CCE Jefferson County or call them at (315)788-8450 for more information.

Here are a few resources that the Extension can offer you that might help your mental health concerns: 

Parenting Programs

If you want extra support about how to parent better, the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County has a parenting program run by staff trained in child development and family life education that is held in the classroom, individual, and in-home settings.  They also have Parenting Resource Rooms that provides educational materials that you can borrow.

FACTS Program

This program uses home visitation, community workshops, and professional development to assist parental involvement in children’s education.  Visit their site.

Operation: Military Kids

OMK is a U.S. Army collaborative effort with America’s communities to support the children and youth impacted by deployment.

NY Farm Net

NY Farm Net provides farm families with a network of information and services that are just for farmers and those that work in agriculture.  This program helps farmers in every aspect of the agriculture life – including decision making skills, financial planning, retirement planning, and stress management.  If you need help about relationship issues, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, or anything related to stress, call 1-800-547-FARM.  

On Fort Drum

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County also has programs on Fort Drum.  Most of them are located at the Army Community Services Building on post.  You can get more information about any of the following programs and others by calling (315)772-6557 or visit ACS online.

Army Family Team Building

This educational program assists soldiers and military families in learning about and adapting to Army life, accepting challenges, managing change, and developing life and leadership skills.

Family Advocacy Program

The Family Advocacy Program strives to prevent child and spouse abuse by offering workshops that deal with stress management, anger control, communication skills, refusal skills for teens, parenting issues, and conflict resolution.

Mobilization & Deployment

Mobilization and Deployment helps military families deal with the stress and family decisions brought about by deployments and reunions, providing training and resources to soldiers and their families in support of readiness.
